What are the costs?
Individuals
Initial assessment: $140 (60 min)
Ongoing sessions: $140 per session (60 min)

Couples
Initial asessment: $240
Ongoing sessions: $240 per session (90 min) or $160 per session (60 min)
*Please understand that research has shown that couples therapy is best done in 90 minute or longer sessions.

***If finances are an issue, please let us know prior to the initial assessment. We have set aside a certain amount of time and resources to help individuals and couples get the help they need – a sliding scale may be available at the time of inquiry.
Do you take insurance?
We are considered an out-of-network provider. We encourage you to check with your insurance provider before scheduling the first appointment to find out the details regarding the specific benefits for your plan.
Out of pocket?
Choosing to pay out-of-pocket for your services provides us the freedom to explore your concerns without interference from an insurance company. It allows us to work together without the need for a mental health diagnosis and medical necessity. It also provides you with more control over the type of care you receive and more flexibility in the work we do together.
Another benefit of paying privately for your services is that you are empowered to choose the therapist that’s the right fit for you and your needs, not just a therapist that accepts your insurance. This is an important variable to consider when seeking support.
Out of network?
It’s important to understand that in order to be eligible for reimbursement for counseling services through your insurance benefits, you will need to have a diagnosed mental health disorder. This applies to all therapy services. We can provide you with a monthly document called a Superbill, which you will submit for reimbursement. Note that a mental health diagnosis will be required whether we believe there to be one or not (see our Services page regarding our approach to therapy for more details). If you want to simplify the process of being reimbursed, you may want to consider using the service ReImbursify.
What's a Superbill?
Many health insurance companies include Out-of-Network benefits for members. This means you pay for your counseling services at the time of service and then submit a document called a Superbill (generated monthly) to your insurance company for reimbursement. A Superbill provides date of service, proof of payment, and required diagnostic and service codes.
EXAMPLE: Let’s say your insurance reimburses 80% for an out of network counseling session once the deductible is met. You would pay $120 at the time of service and your out of network benefit would reimburse $96. This would be paid directly to you by your insurance, leaving the actual cost to you at $24 per session.
Payment
options?
Payment is accepted in the form of cash, check, or credit card including HSA cards. You are responsible for full payment at the time of services regardless of Out-of-Network benefits.
How long are sessions?
Most sessions are 60 minutes, though some of our couples counseling sessions are 90 minutes.
What do I do in a session?
Because each person has different issues and goals for counseling, it will be different depending on the individual/couple. We tailor our therapeutic approach to your specific needs. This is something we will talk through in the initial assessment.
How many sessions do
I need?
Unfortunately, this is not possible to say in a general FAQs page. Everyone’s circumstances are unique to them and the length of time counseling can take to allow you to accomplish your goals depends on your desire for personal development, your commitment, and the factors that are driving you to seek counseling in the first place.
